When shopping for hiking tents there are a few factors to take into account to find the tent that will fit your needs. Consider the dimensions you will probably need, the structure and safety level, quality of material, weight and cost. Hiking can be an excellent opportunity to get out and appreciate mother nature at its best. Do not allow your hiking encounter be ruined simply because you did not educate yourself on the different types of tents obtainable for your excursion.

The tent’s size should take into account not only the quantity of people who will want to sleep in it but as well what may need to be kept in it if you happen to run into nasty weather. If it begins pouring down rain you may need to prepare food in your tent so be prepared for any situation that may arise. After determining precisely how much room or space you may require, it might be better to let each and every person in your party carry their own tent so the size of the bigger tent doesn’t need to be brought by one individual.

Ensure that you obtain a quality tent that will tolerate the weather. You will discover many tents on the market made for different climate conditions. If you hike during all seasons, you might prefer to check out several different tents. You will find tents with UV protected fly covers for hotter climate conditions. Windy environments demand multiple tie downs with a durable metal framework and a streamlined structure. Snow conditions require special snow stakes and tents with bathtub floors that are waterproof for the stormy types of conditions.

You want to make sure your tent is sturdy and dependable. The tent’s poles are what give the tent its toughness. There are about three different types of components utilized to make tent poles. They are carbon filter, fiberglass and aluminum-alloy tubing. The one applied the most today is the aluminum-alloy tubing style because they are very secure and flex easily without costing as much as the carbon filter model.

Selecting the right fabric for your tent will ensure that you keep the sun rays or rain away from the tent. It will also establish how much your tent weighs. If the product is shown as 50d, it is believed to be a lightweight fabric. The denier measures the fabric’s weight in grams per 1000-meter length. The psi or pounds per square inch will determine the amount of weight the product can hold as far as water resistance.

Hiking tents have many features to take into account when purchasing the right one for your next venture. They are just a few issues you need to think about before buying one, make certain that you decide on one that will fit into your budget but will also survive for years so you can take advantage of your hiking journeys.

Camping Chairs, Do You Use One?

Do you enjoy going camping? A lot of people do, especially those under forty or those with children. I am not convinced that it is more male orientated than female, but it is a close call. It could be.

When you go camping, there will usually be a lot of preparation done in advance and provisions and equipment will be bought and laid out in readiness for the great trek, whether you drive to the hiking starting point or walk there from your front door. You will have a backpack, of course, food, clothing, a tent, sleeping bags or blankets and every other little thing you need, but will you take a camping chair?

Yes, you could sit on a fallen tree trunk or a log around the camp fire to chat and do your cooking. You could even sit on the soil or on a blanket, but have you ever stopped to consider how heavy a canvas and aluminium framed camping chair really is? It weighs a pound or two and can hang off the outside of your rucksack or knapsack.

A camping chair can greatly enhance your camping holiday, whether you are going to a camping site or just wandering in nature, but probably even more so in the latter situation. If it is raining or has recently rained, logs, rocks and the soil will be damp. If there are lots of ants around, you will not want to sit on the ground anyway.

What about bugs and other creepy-crawlies? Or snakes even? The fact is that a camping chair does not take up much space, does not weigh much, but can deliver a lot of comfort.

Of course, the more sophisticated the camping chair, the heavier it will be, but you not need much to feel good after a long hike, particularly if the weather was bad. A stool is better than nothing, but I would want something with a back to it; something like a canvas director’s chair the same as you see in movies.

Your camping chair can double as a table, if the weather is fine and you have other places to sit down. If you serve your food on your camping chair you will have fewer problems with ants and other insects. However, the best reason for taking a folding camping chair with you on a camping holiday, is the luxury of being able to take your boots off and lean back in your camping chair with your feet up after you have made camp. It may not be macho, but I like it.
