Cascade RiverCome to Cascade for the rushing river and grand waterfalls that lay within a gorge, lush with moss and ferns that grow on black volcanic rocks. Hike the trail through birch, spruce and white cedar; stop to see the views of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world. Trails connect with the Superior Hiking Trail and the North Shore State Trail and offer great recreational opportunities to hikers and cross-country skiers. Drive-in and backpack campsites are available.
Split Rock Lighthouse-(are on Hwy 61 about 48 miles from Duluth, Minnesota and 20 miles from Two Harbors, MN) This park is situated on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Perhaps best known for its historic lighthouse, this park offers numerous recreational opportunities. Visitors can cart-in their supplies to pristine campsites along Lake Superior. Scenic trails along the lake link up to the spectacular Superior Hiking Trail. Anglers cast their lines for lake trout, salmon, and brown trout. The rocky beach is perfect for skipping stones into Lake Superior.
Grand Portage- (is on Hwy 61 about 146 miles from Duluth,Minnesota 35 miles from Grand Marais, Mn and 5 miles from Grand Portage, Minnesota)Torrents of wild water plummet 120 feet over the High Falls down to the Pigeon River in this park on the U.S. - Canadian border. The falls, the highest in the state, presented a serious obstacle to river travel, so a “carrying place,” or portage, was necessary. American Indians created the ancient nine-mile trail from Lake Superior to bypass the falls. This trail became known as “The Grand Portage.” Today, visitors of all abilities can take a one-half mile trail and boardwalk to the falls overlook area. The park is designed for day use only and contains mixed hardwood-conifer forests and hiking trails along the banks of the Pigeon River. The spectacular scenery sets the stage for recreational opportunities that include hiking, photography, and picnicking. The park lies within the Grand Portage Indian Reservation and is bordered by Canada on the north and east. Lake Superior is about one mile east of the park.

If you love camping, then you know that having a great quality tent is one of the most important factors in having a great camping trip. There are so many different types of tents, and each are designed for different types of camping. Knowing you have the right kind of tent for your family is important. Knowing that it is sturdy and will keep you dry is equally as important. This article will focus on two very good…and very different tents: the Eureka Titan Luxury Family Tent and the Eureka Timberline Outfitter. Let’s take a look at each and see what makes them so special.
Talking about “luxury” and “camping” in the same sentence may sound silly, but truthfully, the Eureka Titan Luxury Family Tent really does put the luxury into camping. If you like the idea of having a lot of space and a few little “extras” to make your camping more pleasant, then you will want to take a look at this tent.
At 128 square feet of space, the Eureka Titan Luxury Family Tent sleeps up to 8 people, and also offers several different storage and organizational features that any camper will appreciate. Inside the Titan you will find a corner “closet” where you can hang your clothes on hangers, clothesline rings, and mesh storage pockets on the ceiling panels. And you have the ability to subdivide the space to suite your needs with a removable divider. Lots of space to set up however you like is truly a luxury in the camping world.
What about the Eureka Timberline Outfitter? This tent is actually the complete opposite of the Titan. Small, simple, lightweight, and easy to transport, this is a tent that was designed to be easy to set up quickly. These features are what have actually made this tent one of the most popular tents on the market for years.
You will find that the Eureka Timberline Outfitter is built to be a strong and tough tent, ready to withstand some really harsh weather conditions…yet you can set it up in a matter of minutes. Even better, it comes in several sizes, from the tiny 2 person tent to a 6 person version, so you can choose the right Timberline for you.
While both tents are quite different, there are some important characteristics that they both share: they are designed to handle all kinds of weather, resist wind, keep everything…and everyone…dry, and provide great ventilation when needed. These are important qualities for a happy camping vacation!
Whether you like the Eureka Timberline Outfitter because it is small and easy to transport, or the spacious and “luxurious” Eureka Titan Luxury Family Tent is your choice, you will find that both tents provide sturdy, weather-resistant, and long-lasting qualities that will help you have the best camping trip ever!
Family camping can be a fun experience but not having the right gear can ruin your trip. Want to be sure to have a great camping experience?
