When traveling by air, wear lightweight, comfortable shoes that can be easily slipped on and off. Security procedures require you to take your shoes off. Comfort is extremely important. Vacationing close to home lets you save money and support local businesses. You might even learn about a great attraction in your area that you didn’t know about.

Give your dog or dogs a thorough brushing before you load them into the car for a trip. Doing so helps to reduce loose hair. Take care to pack everything that your dog will need for the trip, such as a leash, water dish, and cleanup bags.

Make sure the room you get is on a high level of the place you will be staying. Ground floor rooms are easier for thieves to access. Sliding doors are also a security risk, so if you have a choice, opt for a room without them. Glass or sliding doors are easier to damage.
If you wear glasses, be sure to pack a spare pair in your suitcase. If your glasses happen to break when you are vacationing you can have a back up. Pack them in checked luggage rather than your carry-on to reduce the chances of theft.
Get a workout in before you get on the plane. Taking a long flight can be tedious. Your body can become cramped and uncomfortable. Having a quick workout or, at the very least, stretching before a flight can reduce or eliminate leg cramps and soreness.

When staying at a hotel, be sure you have travel candles. It will add a pleasant aroma to your room. Depending on the scent of the candle, it could help you to fall asleep more quickly. The majority of candle manufacturers have smaller sized candles available, making them convenient to bring along when you travel.
To avoid any unnecessary issues when travelling by plane, make sure any gifts you bring are unwrapped. Due to recent changes in the security policies of airports it is very likely that a wrapped present will be opened to investigate its contents. Do not worry about the problem; simply plan ahead. Either buy wrapping paper when you arrive, or bring your own along.
Always go out of your way to tip any bell station and housekeeper appropriately. Standard tips are generally $1 for each piece of luggage, and $2-$5 for the housekeeper each day of your stay. Tipping ensures good service and is sure to make your interactions with hotel staff more pleasurable.
You can conveniently create almost all your vacation and travel plans online. Using travel sites will greatly assist you in planning your travel destinations without using a lot of unwanted effort on your part. You can line up hotels, rental cars, and flights using your computer! You can research your destination and read reviews of potential lodgings. Travel websites also offer good deals in planning your trip, as well as discounts on last minute travel.

Try asking to go to an out-of-service room if your chosen hotel is booked. These out of service rooms are rooms that require minor maintenance such as repainting the walls or cleaning a stain on the carpet.
If you have booked a hotel room, don’t forget to pack some travel candles. Choose scented candles that will make your room have a nice aroma. They are soothing and give the room a romantic feel, making it easy to relax. There are several companies that manufacture miniature scented candles that are easy to pack.
Make sure you don’t fall asleep before eight pm so you can adjust faster to a different time zone. Resist the urge to fall asleep too early because this will only prolong the disorientation of jet lag. It’s easier to overcome jet lag if you adjust to the local time as quickly as possible.
When hiking or camping, always carry a map of the area on your person, even if you’re only leaving camp for a few minutes. A hand-held, portable GPS or a compass is a must to have on you when you are out and about as they are very useful if you get disorientated and lose your bearings.
Take an extra pair of eyeglasses with you on vacation if you depend on them. This will help to ensure that if the glasses you are wearing become damaged you will still be able to see. Pack them in checked luggage rather than your carry-on to reduce the chances of theft.
Planning ahead is the number one rule of flying. Most airports are close to major urban areas, making them difficult to get to at busy times of day, like rush hour. Have your bags packed well in advance. You need to make all of your travel plans far before you plan to fly. You do not want to miss your flight.

Most people don’t have fun planning a trip but they do have fun traveling. Many find it exhausting to try to arrange all the details so the trip runs smoothly. Use the advice here to smoothly plan out enjoyable trips and vacations.
If you travel to an amusement park or other specific attraction, find out if online tickets are available, and print them beforehand. Sometimes you can get a good deal, or even if you don’t, the small fee you pay is worth it, as you will get to skip the long admission lines. Some places have time blocks that you can enter. This is another good way to avoid lines.
Make sure to tip the bell station and the housekeeper appropriately. The typical tip is a dollar per bag of luggage and anywhere from two to five dollars per day for housekeeping. Tipping the people who assist you during your stay will help to develop a relationship with the staff, and entice them to provide you with optimum service.
If you are traveling and wear glasses, remember to take an extra pair with you in your luggage. Do not take the chance of going on a trip with only one pair. Put them in your luggage in case your purse or carry on bags were lost or got stolen.
Get adequate exercise before a long trip. Long flights are found to be hard to sit through. When you are forced to sit in the same position for hours on end, your back and legs can cramp up. Exercise or, at the least, a session of stretching prior to a flight can minimize your cramps and eliminate sore muscles.
Making copies of important travel documents is an invaluable safety precaution when travelling; you never know when you may be the victim of theft. Place different copies of your documents in several locations so that you cannot lose everything at once. It is recommended to also leave copies of your documents with an emergency contact so that if the unexpected happens you have someone that has the necessary documentation to assist you.
Your children should always have some form of identification on them. Each child should have enough money on hand to make a call from a payphone if it becomes necessary. Every parent should have current pictures of each of their children with identifying characteristics noted on back.
As you can tell, there is much more to traveling than taking a plane ride. It requires a little preparation to make the trip as enjoyable as possible. The advice provided to you above will help you out.

Beach RV: Camping Tips For San Diego
December 2, 2011 by Randy Kalp
San Elijo Campground in North County San Diego is the perfect spot for families or travelers visiting San Diego who are on a budget or want to sleep in the ocean air.
The campground has a store, surfboard rentals and a surf school, it also has a taco shop. Additionally, the quaint beach town Cardiff-by-the-Sea is just a crosswalk away from the campground. Traveling with your dog? There is a bar right outside the campground called The Office, which allows pets.
The San Elijo State Beach Campground, which is partially set on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is great place for any traveler looking to swim, sunbath or take long walks on the beach. One negative to the campground is its location to the railroad tracks. The commuter train runs regularly until 1 a.m. through Cardiff and past the campground, and due to an intersection, the train has to blow its horn. One way to muffle the sound is to try to camp closer to the ocean.
San Elijo State Beach Campground is usually full throughout the summer and on holidays, so reservations are a must. Winter is a bit slower, and reservations aren’t required. The cost to camp is as follows: $35/inland site; $50/ocean site; $20 a day for electricity (not all sites have hookups); $12 a day for an additional car (yes a trailer is a car), showers $1 for 3 minutes.
If you want to get one of the $35 sites, I suggest picking one in the middle of the campground. The sites along the back fence suffer from the road and train noise, more than the inland ones. Plus, because you are away from the edge of the campground, some of the inland sites are a bit more private.
The San Elijo Campground is definitely one of the more social San Diego state beach campgrounds. So, if you want to hang out, meet people and maybe have a BBQ with your neighbor by the beach, then this is the place. Generally, people seem to be younger and much more social here. There are also more kids and younger families.

Tips for Camping Around New Zealand
September 3, 2011 by Roger Randall
New Zealand is the world’s camping ground. Beautiful forests, gorgeous landscapes, native wildlife and so much to do all around the country, it’s the ultimate destination for anybody interested in travel or the outdoors. The country makes it easy to explore on the cheap; there are camping grounds in and around almost every town and city, and the country gives visitors the ability to freedom camp in some locations.
There are a lot of ways to explore New Zealand. Campervan hire is one of the most popular ways to get around the whole country and is perfect for both locals and international visitors. Campervan businesses have taken off in the past few years as an affordable and practical way to see the country. Companies will outfit their vans with everything needed for a trip – bedding, running water and storage space – while remaining compact and easy to manage. By following a few of these camping tips, you can get the most out of your camper rental.
Freedom camping isn’t legal everywhere – check online or phone the local council to find out where you can and can’t stay in your camper hire. It’s a good idea to find out where the campsites in the region are so you don’t end up stuck for somewhere to stay; this is also a great way to find out what each campground has and what its reviewers have said.
New Zealand isn’t known for having great climate consistency. It’s pretty normal for the weather to change more than once in a day, putting on everything from rain and wind to sunny blue skies. Whatever season you are travelling in, be prepared with clothes for any occasion.
Plan and adhere to a schedule. It’s a small country, but New Zealand has so many different places to visit and such a wide variety from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South that it is easy to run out of time. Choose the places you are looking to explore and plan to fit everything in. You don’t want to miss out on anything that the country has to offer.
Be prepared for your vacation, book a campervan hire for your New Zealand getaway.
